Re: What did you do to your Ninja today?

Those wheels look brilliant. I daren't even look at mine. Especially the rear one. It's in a terrible state. Resigned to it now, I am. :| What state are they in? Mine still aren't the best - they could to with a repaint on the inner rim and the spokes. The hub on the disk side was nearly as bad as ...

Refinishing front footpeg hangers?

I've got some sort of pitting on the "face" of the front footpeg brackets. Are these clear anodized from the factory? I have tried various chemicals and light abrasives but nothing shifts it. I may hit it with sandpaper, take the coating off, polish and get into the routine of maintenance polishing ...

Re: What did you do to your Ninja today?

I had them done by a polisher who did them to sisal stage. That gives a polished finished but not mirror finish. After my efforts with the exhaust I thought I would leave the wheels to someone with the right tools! The next step would be with a Calico buff which would then give a mirror finish. I di...

Triumph Daytona 675 front brake master cylinder

I was contemplating a ZX10R master cylinder to go with the rebuilt six pot Tok's and the new HEL brake lines (with radial MC adaptor) but the pickings on Ebay were slim. Wanting to replace Nissin with Nissin I started looking for alternatives and remembered reading that Triumph uses Nissin brakes on...

Re: What did you do to your Ninja today?

Front and rear brake calipers apart and cleaned. Got an All Balls kit for front and rear (seals, pins etc). HEL lines are in the cupboard awaiting deployment. Got a radial master cylinder from a Triumph Daytona 675 arriving tomorrow.

Ordered a ram air filter, looks like just a piece of foam in there and surprised it wasn't choked full of bugs, reading on here they deteriorate over time.
How do you get it out of the plastic? Does it twist apart?

Re: What did you do to your Ninja today?

Got those pesky o-rings back into the grooves on the face from carb to airbox. Boiled them twice for about two minutes each time. They shrank just enough to not pop out continuously.

Re: Polishing exhaust

So I've been hacking away at it sporadically: IMG_20200126_192249.jpg IMG_20200126_192215.jpg IMG_20200126_192143.jpg Nylon scourer pad and water got the baked on creme de Sahara off. The herder-to-reach places I hit with my new toy soda blaster. Some bits have had Mothers Mag polish with scourer. O...

Re: Polishing exhaust

Well one thing is for sure, they aren’t standard..Either way they are likely stainless mate :smt023 If these are muzzy they have altered the design at some point as I initially thought yoshi till I looked at the collars plus an old photo I have.okd muzzy was a 4/1 design , so the opposite of these ...

Re: Polishing exhaust

I'm in Australia and this bike will be a garage queen so there's not much risk of the exhaust getting salt and slush crud on it. The golden colour which goes into the headers from the heat is okay as that's how they go. I gave it a go with oven cleaner last night but that didn't do much as it seems ...

Polishing exhaust

Has anyone done this? As in polish the headers through to the exhaust muffler? I want to do this - I think it'd look great - but it looks a real fiddle where those primaries go into those secondaries...! Edit: Hmmm, it seems it might be a Muzzy full system. The exhaust muffler is obviously muzzy (it...

Re: What did you do to your Ninja today?

Detailing clay is a good way to sort plastics, you won't burn scorch the plastic with heat from rubbing...It's the best way to look after olde paint/clear coat as it's not overly abrasive when used with lubes or water....soo you don't wear yout paint down too the primer !! TYtang I'll look into it....
