I noticed on my clock that I only had 1 turn signal light working I pulled the plug and sure enough 1 pin was bent on the clock. I fixed that. But now the high beam indicator doesnt come on .which it previously did. And most importantly the headlight isnt working .its a LED headlight was working before.i pulled the headlight and checked it with a auxiliary battery and hi beam and low beam work. I check all the wires at the head everything is intact. Any suggestions? I also pulled and cleaned the 2 relays. And the headlight plug along with the clock plug. Another thing to note. I had noticed that the headlight only came on when the bike was running. But now I got no headlight at all .

Update. As I banged the headlight relay around on the triple. I got flickering light on my headlight then nothing I'm going to assume the relay is no good. DO I have to replace them both ??

The clock is a 01 02 E clock I believe

On your bike, the headlights only come on when the engine is running. I wired mine to do this (UK bikes have a separate switch), there is a how-to on this which will show more information on the junction fuse box.

On yours, I would check the Blue/yellow wire going to the lefthand switching unit for battery voltage when the engine is running. If you have this then it may be time to strip and clean the switching unit, there a how-to on this also.

As yours has relays up by the clocks I would imagine its been modified and has the later zx9 headlight wiring patched in. It will also probably now have a seperate power feed from the battery, but as you say it flickers I would say you have a bad connector somewhere in this new feed.

Thanks yorkie. The headlights dont come on at all. when I tapped the left relay a few times gently in the lower triple to see if it would work. that's when the partial flicker came on .but then nothing. It's why I think it's the relay. I tried and tried again to get another flicker but nothing. And I was doing this with the bike running.going to recheck everything again. And going to open the left hand switch housing for cleaning . I'm going to order a led bar and wire it up to a on off switch straight to the battery in the meantime. cuz I wanna ride. I did this to the cb. The extra led bar was like adding another headlight for those dark traitorous nighttime highway rides. I hope it ain't the relay (S) at least I can ride during the day lol and she is running like a champ \:D/ . Ohhh yeaa.im playing inspector gadget again yorkie lol. :-k .at least shes running like a beast =D> .

I forgot to mention .I cleaned them both and I even swapped them to see .nada.they seem like there the same and both fit. :-k

Also got the horn in today and installed beep beep. And a smoked tail light with blinkers waiting to pick up some pig tails tomorrow. Im definitely not cutting into the harness. [-X

Thanks yorkie . I doubled checked my connections that single wire was loose. All fixed now .I have a working headlight. I also added a smoked taillight with blinkers built in. Works like a charm. Now it's time to ride. I also added some headlight brackets I had from the cafe racer. They are better than zip ties lol

I ended up pulling the tank an airbox again . And the tail section to add my new tail light. We should be good 2 go. I have 2 adjust the suspension change rear rim amongst a few other things.

If your wondering where the license plate is. Its attached to the underside of the battery box under the tail. For the simple fact that fuk tolls and red light cameras =D> I used outdoor heavy duty 15lb velcro .

I have a question maybe someone can shed sum light. I noticed when I pulled the tank i have another storage box under the tank. Does my battery go under the tank? If not what does?

Is the only way to access that box is removing the tank??

Any extra usable storage would be great.

Btw I put it on the highway today 20+ miles ran like a beast. =D>

I think that area is to hold all the California model fuel emission filter stuff.

Thanks guys. I was gonna move the battery under there but I highly doubt it fits. I'll see what I come up with to mod that space for easier access. I ordered a 7 inch led bar 120W 12,000 lumens. That's gonna be spectacle bright. My streetfighter headlight that came with it. is 35W maybe 1500lumens. A huge difference. Also purchased sum doofy looking mirrors . I just need good mirrors to see behind me . Gotta watch out for the flying pigs #-o yesterday on my "test run" had the highway patrol in one lane me in the other he slows down and pulls up behind me .I'm all legit. But dumb overzealous pigs like that is what makes me wanna boogie on them." Run ricky yea he running" :-". Once I get this bike how I want it. I highly doubt I'll be stopping for them. =D>

Quick question the clock on the 02 like I have are the lenses plastic or glass? Looking to do some polishing to remove some light scratches. But I need to know if there plastic or glass I suspect plexi or lexan but just double checking.

Led bar came in mounts up to the lower triple at the 2 factory mounts. Justed mocked it up. Waiting on a wiring harness with a inline fuse. Also a on off button I'll mount on the top triple.

Im trying to adjust my front suspension. These star knobs on the forks .Are they meant to adjust the flat head screw or the 17mm nut underneath the star knob??? .I need to stiffen my suspension as I bottom out on potholes that aren't even all that bad. Problem is I cant get to the 17mm nut underneath the starknob I'm not sure if this knob is doing the 17mm or the screw or both .when I turn the knob the flat head screw adjusts. I've tried taken out the 2 tiny allen screws that hold the star but it seems like the star may be held in place by the flat head screw also.

Hey thanks. Im pretty annoyed though that I moved them onto the lever clamps. But I still can't really see behind me only to the sides. Maybe i just need a extension to go either up and out or both.

The light on the speedometer background has gone out again. Was on before. What could it be the bulb this time?? All the lights work on the clock besides the backlight for the speedo. The background for the tachometer lights up.

The flat head screw up top is rebound damping {how fast the bikes suspension rebounds back },
the 17mm nut /star knob is preload {how extended/high or low your suspension sits before any load is applied}
and the flathead adjuster at the bottom of the fork is compression {how quickly/easily the fork compresses}

If you get one of those lithium motorcycle batteries, that would fit in the emissions dept /box , your battery box could then be used for storage

Thanks Steve. My question is ,is that star knob suppose to adjust the flat head screw or the 17mm nut? Because when I turn the knob I get the flat head screw turning. Not sure if its adjusting the 17mm nut or not. I gave it 4 clicks in down at the fork legs and the suspension is way better no more bottoming out.

I gotta adjust my chain and clean it. Also i have to check the sprocket nut. Im getting a clunking in first gear when I give gas then off the throttle. Would anyone have the torque setting for the sprocket nut.
I apologize fellas. I have no manual yet. Im currently not working. Going to the therapist 3 times a week trying to find out why this depression keeps coming back. It's the first thing imma get when I have the funds available

I love the look of that headlight paired with a 12k lumen bulb should be bright enough.

And maybe sum side fairings cut up to fit the contours of the bike. And I might just have to use barend mirrors smh. I want mirrors that work what's the point of going fast and not being able 2 see wen u have a pig sitting on your tail. Smh ive only hit 4th gear at most. Maybe 100mph

Trying to keep busy and bust the negative thoughts is a bastard of a challenge when funds are short or non-existent,I would look around for the little blind spot mirror things you stick onto/into the corner of your existing mirrors...Thing is with handlebar mirrors they can upset the handling because of the wind force on the bars,so keep what you have and if the blind spot mirrors fail to improve you can still remove them and add them onto the replacement mirrors
They're a bit of a must-have for city riding are mirrors

If the dash bulbs on your bike are the type with the exposed copper wire chances are the brass plates that the bulb conects/pushes into are corroded,you can gently clean the female/dash connection by pushing in/out a wood cocktail stick coated with a bit of kiddies chalk to act as a soft abrasive.

Thanks Steve. I just noticed my headlight out again . It's probably why the speedo light is out tooo. Gives me a excuse to take the tank,airbox off again lol. It's the wire under my tank the connection. I'll crimp the bullet connector this time so it won't come undone. I'll check my carbs while I'm at it make sure there balanced. Weather is to cold to work outside feels like 28F :shock:
I might just put on some bar end mirrors. I just want a reliable fun bike to commute. Are streetfighters allowed on race tracks? Hopefully I'll be better soon.
