ZX10R mods K&N or standard air filter?

Post by Mundo Quasimodo » Sun May 31, 2015 11:05 am

After having the 10 running really rough on tick over and low revs l'd decided to change the plugs and check out the filter, after the 4 hour knuckle bashing fun fest that this involved #-o it seems a good time to invest in a 'performance' filter, what's the general view on K&N's these days? and has anyone got any views on blanking off the air switching valve as per this post from the ZX10-net forum.

Cheers for any input ;)

Perhaps a tad late but stick with the OEM filter, you won't get any benefit from a K&N on a 10 (as with a 9) in most cases.

BLock off bit it easy enough to do, there's kits on eBay. I did mine, its a PITA in the ass to get to but frees up space, drops weight, and as it just doesn't do anything really anyway just doesn't need to be there!

Just giving my experience. With the K&N on the CBR954RR (fireblade) the filters were less flowing than that of the original and hence lost a few horsepower. The BMC was as good as the original if not slightly better but obviously more expensive.

On the zx9r I've had no experience
2002 ZX9R E1, 2001 ZX9R E1, 2000 ZX9R E1, 2005 CBR1000RR-5, 2002 CBR900RR-2, 2005 CB900F & 1998 VFR800Fi
