YBR125

Post by Eggy » Tue Jun 09, 2015 7:13 pm

Just done a brake service and oil change on Lavinia's 125 and would like the collectives opinion.

1: The front caliper pad retaining spring clip thingy - it's a push fit in to the body of the caliper to apply pressure against the side edge of the pads (I'm sure you're all familiar with the idea??!!) Trouble is, I can't remember which way it goes, there's a wider part and a thinner part to apply the pressure to the pads. I'm guessing this is to do with the sliding caliper mounts but can't figure out which way round it goes.

2: The YBR doesn't have an oil filter as such, just a metal strainer located behind the clutch cover. When I removed the cover a small round metal seal (almost spring-like) was sitting in the bottom of the cover. I think I've found where it goes (the only place it seemed to fit) but again, I'm now convincing myself its wrong.

The bike is a 2012 model - Haynes do list for it but not in any local Halfrauds - only Amazon and I can't find it on Ron Ayres etc.

Any ideas?????

Cheers,

Kev.

Like a plum it's all back together now

Here's a screen grab from a YT link to show the internals of the gearbox, the round spring/ seal is on the shaft shown at the top right

Image

The black seal in the cover is still there but the spring/ seal was in the bottom of the cover.

The best way I can describe it is like the spring around the top of a car valve stem oil seal. I've assumed it goes on the shaft I've highlighted.

(We're both looking at the same videos! - And I still can't see where it came from!!!)

Me neither :-(

If it wasn't for the fact I'll bugger the gasket taking the cover off again, I'd remove it just to take a bloody photo!!

Off to the dealers at the weekend then to see if they've any idea :?
